State colleges: Jennifer Hamson leads BYU to win over UCSB in women's basketball

Provo • Jennifer Hamson tallied 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocks to lead BYU to a 67-39 victory over UC Santa Barbara in women's college basketball Tuesday.

Morgan Bailey had 15 points and six rebounds, and Haley Steed tallied a game-high 11 assists and seven rebounds for the Cougars (7-4), who have won four straight games.

UC Irvine 71, Utah State 70 • In Logan, Kelly Meggs hit a 3-pointer with four seconds remaining after the Aggies failed to close out the game by missing 3-pointer with 26 seconds remaining. Jennifer Schlott had a game-high 26 points, as well as five assists and five rebounds, for Utah State (2-7), which has lost five straight games.

Central Missouri 78, Dixie State 69 • In Las Vegas, Mandy Munns was 4-of-6 shooting from 3-point range for a team-high 20 points, but it wasn't enough as the Red Storm (6-4) had its five-game winning streak snapped.

Men's basketball

Dixie State 89, Central Missouri 77 • Four players scored in double figures as the Red Storm shot 82 percent from 3-point range and nearly 60 percent from the field. McKay Massey (14), De'Quan Thompson (14), Zach Robbins (15) and Steven Larson (15) were the four players to score in double figures for Dixie State (7-3), which has won four of its past five games.
