Franchise owner Mike Pagano and wife Jan have opened a Woody's Bar-B-Q franchise in Ogden, at 4351 S. Harrison Blvd., marking the first restaurant in the national chain to open in Utah.

"We looked at many other franchises before we discovered Woody's," said Jan Pagano, who also is a nurse.

The couple grew up in small towns near Ogden and both graduated from Weber State University.

Menu items include baby back ribs, macaroni and cheese, Texas beef brisket, char-grilled sandwiches, Black Angus burgers, traditional sides and Woody's banana pudding.

On Tuesday evenings, children age 12 and under eat free with an adult entrée purchase.

Woody's, based in Jacksonville, Fla., has 34 other locations, in Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Ohio and Pennsylvania. —
