Provo police say they've caught a 15-year-old boy who among others is believed responsible for almost 30 cases of criminal mischief around the city.
On Sunday and Monday, 29 Provo residents reported to police that someone had smashed their car windows or mailboxes, according to a news release from the police department. Most of the victims live in the eastern half of the city.
Provo police, working with officers from Brigham Young University, identified a 15-year-old as one suspect in the crime spree. Detectives anticipate identifying and charging others as the investigation continues.
Detectives referred 29 charges of criminal mischief against the teen to juvenile court, and seized two baseball bats and a BB gun as evidence.
"These juveniles went on a criminal spree costing the citizens of Provo thousands of dollars," said Provo Police Chief Rick Gregory in a statement. "Our partnership with BYU was instrumental in helping detectives bring a quick close to this investigation and will ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions."
