With the pending resignation of Taylorsville Mayor Russ Wall, the city needs someone to fill his position for the last year of his term, which ends Dec. 31, 2013. The salary is $82,472 a year.

The city council plans to officially post the job during a meeting scheduled for Friday evening.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 4. Applicants need to be a registered voter and a Taylorsville resident for the past 12 months. In addition, they cannot be a convicted felon.

Applicants can fill out an application online at www.taylorsvilleut.gov/ beginning late Saturday or in person at City Hall, 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd. (5325 South) beginning Wednesday.

City Council members will interview applicants at a Jan. 9 public meeting, then vote on the replacement.

Wall announced Thursday that he plans to take a job as director of public works and regional development for Salt Lake County. He is resigning as mayor effective Jan. 8 after serving seven years in the position.
