A crash early Friday on Bangerter Highway claimed the life of a Salt Lake woman, who was ejected from her car.

The Utah Highway Patrol said Adriana Hernandez-Mena was driving south on the highway about 1:50 a.m. when her 2001 Volkswagen Jetta went off the left side of the road near where it crosses Interstate 80.

The Jetta hit a cable barrier in the median and rolled, ejecting Hernandez-Mena. the Highway Patrol said the 26-year-old was not wearing a seat belt and may have been eating while driving.

Speed and distracted driving are being investigated as factors in the crash.
