A grove of trees will be dedicated Thursday at the Salt Lake City Cemetery in remembrance of the victims of the Newtown, Conn., shootings.

Salt Lake City officials will join other community leaders in a 2 p.m. ceremony at the cemetery entrance at the corner of N Street and 4th Avenue.

The dedication will be followed by a candlelight vigil for the students and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Newtown," said Mayor Ralph Becker. "We hope this memorial can contribute to the healing and renewal of community during an unimaginably difficult time."
