The British comedy "Sightseers" — playing at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival — follows a couple on a road trip — but, boy, does this trip take some dark turns.

The comedy centers on Chris (Steve Oram) and Tina (Alice Lowe), who take a caravan trip through Yorkshire. But the happy vacation changes abruptly when Chris murders a stranger (it's in the trailer), leaving Tina to figure out what future she has with her boyfriend.

Lowe and Oram wrote the screenplay. The movie is directed by Ben Wheatley, and filmmaker Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead," "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") is one of the executive producers.

The trailer includes a prominent swear word at the end, and the general tone may be too dark for some viewers.

"Sightseers" screens in the Spotlight section of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
