Taking life for granted

As an 18-year-old high school student, life can be difficult. It is hard to find the time to balance school work, home life, extracurricular activities and all the social freedoms that we teenagers want.

All these tragedies happening around us made me realize what is truly important and worth my time: my family. I now realize how little time we truly have in this life, and how we need to cherish the time we have with our families and spend as much time as possible with them, even if from afar through technology.

Especially during this holiday season when families gather together, it is important we take every moment we can to truly appreciate what we have. We also cannot forget those who have lost those loved ones.

Let us never forget, even when the New Year begins and people go on their ways, how important and precious life is. Do not take it for granted.
