If the Republican Party really wants to know why many of us have turned our backs on it, Republicans should dig the Dec. 16 Opinion page columns by George Pyle ("Anti-Obama dogma doesn't add up") and Paul Rolly ("Politics and bullying"). Those two columns really say it all.

The Republican Party has turned its collective back on anything that would help a group of people that they don't approve of. Members of the GOP are against the Affordable Care Act, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and now a bill that would have helped teenagers deal with suicidal thoughts because it might also help gay students. How mean-spirited can a bunch of people get?

Well, some of us turned our backs on the Republicans who cleverly gerrymandered the 4th congressional district for their candidate of choice, Mia Love. We didn't so much vote for Democrat Jim Matheson, who can't quite decide which party he is a member of, or against Love, as we voted to show the GOP that we've had it with its me-me-me attitude.
