A Utah man suspected in the death of a Riverton teen will get a chance at parole on unrelated kidnapping and drug convictions in 2022, Utah's Board of Pardons and Parole decided.

Daniel Robert Ferry is serving two terms of 1 to 15 years and one term of zero to 5 years in the Utah State Prison after pleading guilty to felony kidnapping and drug distribution charges in June. Ferry's terms are concurrent.

The board reviewed Ferry's case Dec. 13 and issued the decision related to his parole on Dec. 21, agency records show.

Police also suspect the 32-year-old Ferry in the March death of 15-year-old Anne Kasprzak. The teen's body was found March 11 floating in the Jordan River.

Ferry was arrested in March on outstanding traffic warrants within days of Kasprzak's death.

Another man, 30-year-old Veanuia Vehekite, also has been called a suspect in Kasprzak's death.

Jail documents filed in March say Vehekite assisted another unidentified man in removing an unconscious Kasprzak from Ferry's home. A witness told police Kasprzak was alive but unconscious when she was carried away in a tarp.

Police have said Ferry, Vehekite and the other man left the home and returned with their clothing bloodied hours later.

No charges related to Kasprzak's death have ever been filed.
