Law enforcement officers rang in the New Year arresting more than 40 impaired drivers Monday night and Tuesday morning in the Salt Lake Valley.

Without staging any checkpoints, the Utah High Patrol hauled in 30 of these drivers by flooding the county's roads with extra troopers. Salt Lake City police arrested another 10 drivers.

In Utah County, deputies netted six arrests of drivers under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

DUI arrest numbers for the Unified Police Department and statewide numbers for the Utah Highway Patrol were not available Tuesday.
