Unified Police officers seized a small fortune in marijuana and busted a suspected drug dealer after an anonymous tip led them to an early morning raid on a Magna home.

UPD Lt. Justin Hoyal said officers obtained a search warrant and entered the home at 8780 W. Edith Circle (3250 South) about 6:40 a.m. Friday.

Officers discovered 40 pounds of marijuana and confiscated nearly $70,000, along with 12 live marijuana plants.

A 31-year-old man living at the residence was arrested at the scene. After questioning, he was to be booked into Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of drug possession, distribution and other charges.

Hoyal said the raid was the culmination of more than a month of surveillance and investigation triggered by information received on UPD's anonymous crime tip line. A caller told police that the suspect was growing and selling marijuana from the Magna home.

"This is a great example of how an anonymous tip from the community can get drugs and drug dealers off the street," Hoyal said.
