Divorce education classes for Utah children begin Jan. 7

A class designed to help children cope with divorce begins Monday in Salt Lake County.

The free classes are sponsored by the Utah State Courts and are taught by a mental health professional with the help of a state court commissioner. The curriculum is intended to give children between the ages of 9 and 12 the skills needed to better communicate with parents who have filed for divorce or who are divorced. Participation is voluntary.

All classes are at the Scott M. Matheson Courthouse, 450 S. State St. Saturday classes are from 10 a.m. to noon; Monday classes are from 6-8 p.m. Saturday dates are Jan. 26, Feb. 23 and March 16. Monday dates are Jan. 7, Feb. 4 and March 4.
