West Valley City's Maverik Center will play host to the Bellator MMA Featherweight Tournament finals on Feb. 21, a Friday news release announced.

West Jordan native Rad Martinez will battle Russian striker Shahbulat Shamhalaev in the finals for a guaranteed world title shot and a $100,000 Bellator tournament prize. The event will be broadcast live starting at 8 p.m. on Spike TV, the release said.

Martinez will return to Utah riding an impressive five-fight win streak that includes Bellator tournament victories over featherweights Nazareno Malegarie and Wagnney Fabiano.

In the release, Martinez called the opportunity to fight in West Valley City "a dream come true."

"Utah has a great base of MMA fans, but we've never had a big MMA promotion ... so it's a great honor to be headlining Utah's first large scale MMA event," he said.

Shamhalaev re-enters the Bellator cage after collecting two knockouts.

The Maverik Center on Feb. 21 also will play host to Bellator's Light Heavyweight Tournament semifinals. The tournament begins Jan. 17 live on Spike, and is headlined by Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Seth "Silverback" Petruzelli, the release said.
