Taylor Sander had a match-high 18 kills to lead BYU's men's volleyball team to a four-set win (25-21, 25-21, 24-26, 25-20) over Hawaii in Provo. The Cougars, who also beat Hawaii in their season opener on Friday night, were helped defensively by senior Russ Lavaja's match-high 11 blocks. Sophomore Jaylen Reyes added 12 digs for the Cougars, and junior Sanders had a hitting percentage of .500 with three digs and one block.
Wrestling
Sophomore Adam Fager led UVU wrestlers by winning the heavyweight bracket at the UVU Open in Orem. He went 3-0 with two pins to win the title. Bracken Nipko (125 pounds), Chasen Tolbers (125), Sam Mecham (141) and Derek Thomas (184) also placed in the tournament.
