Weber County sheriff's deputies said Friday that a woman who claimed she was robbed and stabbed as she left her doctor's office had made up the story.

The 35-year-old woman claimed she walked out of the office near 5350 S. Adams Ave. in Washington Terrace, when a man approached her about 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.

The suspect reportedly stole some jewelry from her and then stabbed her in the abdomen with a knife before taking off.

The woman was taken to nearby Ogden Regional Medical Center, and was expected to recover, according to initial reports. Investigators also located some of her jewelry near her car.

But Weber County sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther said Friday in a press release that "upon further investigation and interview of the subject ... in fact, no robbery took place."
