Two Salt Lake City men were found dead in their home on Friday after a hospice worker asked police to check on their welfare.

Both men were in their 60s and suffering from serious illnesses, Salt Lake City police Lt. Dennis McGowan said. Hospice workers last saw them alive on Wednesday, he said.

Police were asked to go to the residence, 1011 S. 400 East, just after 10 a.m. Friday after neither man answered telephone calls made to them by a hospice worker. Officer forced their way into the home and found the men were deceased, McGowan said.

The state medical examiner's office is conducting autopsies on both bodies to determine causes of death.

Police did not identify either man, pending the notification of their families.

McGowan said he did have any details about the relationship between the two men. The type of illnesses for which they were being treated also was unknown, he said.
