The newest dining darling in Salt Lake City is Caterina, a French-themed restaurant that opened a few days ago in Sugar House.
This restaurant, which pays homage to Caterina de Medici, is located inside the old Post Office at 2155 S. Highland Dr. The executive chef is Jean-Louis Montecot, who previously owned Jean Louis restaurant in Park City and before that was the executive chef at Deer Valley's Goldener Hirsch.
Caterina's menu features soups, salads, entrees and desserts made with fresh ingredients and classic French preparations. Entrees are priced from $18-$22. Besides the main dining area, Caterina has an area for large groups and will have patio seating in the summer.
Caterina is fourth restaurant for owner Ken Millo, a Salt Lake City architect, who also owns Cucina Toscana, at 307 W. Pierpont Ave. It is also the third new restaurant that Millo and his Cucina Toscana Restaurant Group have opened in the last six months. The first was Vivace, which is located adjacent to Cucina Toscana and shares a foyer. Next came Vivace by Cucina Toscana at the Salt Lake City International Airport and now Caterina, which is open Monday-Saturday from 5:30 to 10 p.m.
