There were 126 arsons reported in Salt Lake and Davis counties in 2011, a 27 percent drop from 2006.
Data reported by cities to the FBI for the Uniform Crime Report show that there were 172 cases of deliberately set fires in 2006, 46 more than were reported in 2011, the most recent FBI crime report.
In Davis County, the number of reported arsons dropped from 37 in 2006 to 27 in 2011.
Layton reported the most arsons in both years, 12 in 2006 and nine in 2011. Bountiful saw the largest decrease in arsons, from 11 in 2006 to three in 2011.
In Salt Lake County, the number of reported arsons went from 135 to 99.
Salt Lake City had the most arsons in both years 58 in 2006 and 36 in 2011 and the largest decrease, 22.
West Valley City, which had 31 arson cases in 2006, reported only 10 in 2011.
