Uintah Sheriff's Office identifies victim in 'suspicious' death

The Uintah County Sheriff's Office has identified a man found dead in a trailer park as a Fort Duchesne resident.

Undersheriff John Laursen said Tuesday that the state Medical Examiner's Office would conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death for 38-year-old David Urrutia.

Laursen said deputies discovered Urrutia's body Monday afternoon after his sister, unable to reach her brother by telephone, called 911 and asked deputies to check on his welfare. She said her brother had recently been in a fight, Laursen said.

Laursen said he could not discuss whether injuries from the fight were connected to Urrutia's death, and he declined to say whether the man's body showed any signs of traumatic injuries.

"We are investigating this as a suspicious death at this time, but the medical examiner will be determining the cause," Laursen said.

He declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

Deputies found Urrutia's remains inside his camp trailer, parked at the Country Village Mobile Home Park in Fort Duchesne, about 3:40 p.m. Monday.
