I read the Jan. 7 Public Forum and was dumbfounded by what people are saying.

I don't know if guns in public schools are the answer ("No guns in schools"). I don't think that we can blame movies or video games for the way people kill people; I know plenty of people who play or watch both and have no intentions of killing anyone. I also do not believe that leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should be telling adults how to behave with guns; it has nothing to do with them ("LDS and gun morality").

This is the way I see things: Everyone wants someone else to correct the problem, but the problem starts in our own homes. If parents will get back to basics and take an active interest in their children's lives, and educate them about things of the world, we might have a chance.

It is always someone's son or daughter who is doing the killing. Are parents to blame? I don't know, but this is where change in our society has to take place. Love, support and take an interest in your children before it is too late.

Let's quit pointing fingers and blaming everyone else, and let's get the ball rolling toward a better society.
