State colleges: Colorado women hand Utah its fourth straight loss

Boulder, Colo. • The 23rd-ranked Colorado women's basketball team used a big second-half run to pull away from Utah for a 67-57 win Tuesday, handing the Utes their fourth straight loss.

Chucky Jeffery had a season-high 28 points with 12 rebounds for Colorado (12-2, 1-2), which went on a 20-3 run for its first Pac-12 win of the season.

Taryn Wicijowski and Michelle Plouffe had 17 points apiece for the Utes (9-5, 0-3), who have lost five of their last seven.

Wicijowski was 7 for 8 from the free-throw line and had nine rebounds and four assists for Utah.

Skiing

University of Utah junior Jaime Dupratt placed third in the women's giant slalom Tuesday at the Spencer Nelson Memorial Invitational in Eldora, Colo., and the Utes were in fourth place after the first day of the event.

Westminster's Simon Ruud and Benoti Jagot placed sixth and seventh, respectively, helping put the Griffins in seventh place.
