It is no secret that Fish Lake is one of my favorite ice fishing destinations. I have a ton of memories of winter trips to Fish Lake with family, friends and some great DWR biologists.I'm pleased to help spread word that the aquatics biologists from the DWR's southern region are holding an ice fishing event Feb. 2 starting at 8 a.m. The fisheries folks will talk about the basics of ice fishing, equipment, bait, where and when to ice fish, learn how to identify fish, ice safety and even how to catch lake trout. This is also a good chance to talk about management ideas with the biologists in charge of the fishery. Anglers should meet at the Mackinaw Campground at Fish Lake. Bait, tackle and fishing rods will be available for us on a first-come first-serve basis. If you have questions call Richard Hepworth (435-691-2205) or Blaine Cox (435-559-0798).If you go shoot me a report and I will live vicariously through you. Looks like I won't be making it down this year. The video was filmed on my last ice fishing excursion at Fish Lake.
