Assault weapons

I am so tired of reading articles from gun advocates about their right to bear arms. Most people who want stricter gun laws don't want to take away all guns; they want to take away assault weapons.

These guns are made specifically to kill as many people as possible in the shortest time possible. I can't think of any reason for these weapons, except for military purposes.

Some people argue that it's not the gun that's doing the killing, it's the person. I absolutely agree. But if we can take away a weapon that maximizes the number of people who die, why wouldn't we?

Yes, some obtain these guns illegally, but in many of these shooting incidents, including at Sandy Hook Elementary, these guns were obtained legally. If you could save one innocent person's life, especially that of a child, wouldn't you be willing to give up your "right"? I know I would.

People need to stop thinking only of themselves and do what's right for society as a whole.
