Jerry Rechtenbach, who was sworn in Thursday as Taylorsville's interim mayor, says he will focus on economic development and neighborhood revitalization.

Rechtenbach, a City Council member for nine years, was among 14 people who applied to serve the remainder of Russ Wall's term through the end of the year. Wall resigned to take a job as Salt Lake County's director of public works and regional development.

Applications to fill the vacancy in District 3 created by Rechtenbach's appointment will be accepted for the next two weeks at Taylorsville City Hall.
