Utah State football hosting six recruits this weekend

Aggies football coach Matt Wells has yet to play a game, but he'll be looking to win his first battles this weekend — in recruiting.

A source close to the Utah State football program has confirmed the following six prospects, with two committed recruits, will be visiting this weekend. A breakdown:

QB Damion Hobbs, Cedar Hill, Texas • A three-star dual-threat passer from a suburb of Dallas. He threw for 2,791 yards, 29 touchdowns and 8 interceptions while also running for 808 yards and 12 scores as a senior, according to the Dallas Morning News. He was an early commit to Arkansas State, which has since lost head coach Gus Malzahn to Auburn and hired Brian Harsin. One of the bigger suitors in the past for Hobbs was Nebraska.

RB Stafon McCray, Kissimee, Fl. • A 6-foot running back who helped Kissimmee Osceola High to the state semifinals this year. He rushed for 1,740 yards and 22 touchdowns with a 7.7 yards-per-carry, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The Sentinel also reported that he's looking at Kentucky and a possible late run from Arkansas or South Florida.

RB Rennie Childs, Houston, Texas • A three-star running back who was a standout for Cypress Ridge High. He rushed for 1945 yards and 19 touchdowns with a 9.13 ypc average, according to the Houston Chronicle. ESPN's list of his offers includes Colorado State, Boise State and Houston.

WR Ryan Watson, Golden West College, Calif. • A wide receiver who turned out some solid performances for the mostly struggling Rustlers this year. He caught 27 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns to lead the team.

CB Jeremy Morris, Mesa Community College, Ariz. • A defensive back who played both ballhawk and tackler for the Thunderbirds. He was second on the team with four interceptions, and had 40 tackles as well. He also was a spot kick returner for Mesa. He's committed to Utah State.

CB Marwin Evans, Highland Community College, Kansas • A 6-foot-1 all-conference honorable mention for the Scotties this season. He had 19 tackles and a pair of picks for Highland's defense. He's committed to Utah State.
