AMES leads Salt Lake County for graduation rate in 2012

The Academy for Math, Engineering and Sciences had the highest graduation rate of any Salt Lake County high school in 2012.

Information released by the Utah State Office of Education showed that 96 percent of the Class of 2012, defined as students who started ninth grade in 2009, made it through graduation.

The traditional public high school with the highest graduation rate was Skyline High School, in the Granite School District, with a 94 percent graduation rate.

Granite Peaks High, an alternative high school in the Granite District, had the lowest reported graduation rate in the county, at 17 percent.

Beehive Science and Technology Academy had the valley's lowest graduation rate for a charter school, at 26 percent.

Park City High School had an 87 percent graduation rate.

In Davis County, Davis High School had a 96 percent graduation rate for students who started high school in 10th grade.

Northern Utah Academy for Math, Engineering and Science had the highest charter school graduation rate, at 91 percent.

The DaVinci Academy had the lowest graduation rate in Davis County, at 39 percent, while Mountain High School had the lowest traditional public school graduation rate at 40 percent.

The data were compiled by UtahsRight.com for a weekly series in The Salt Lake Tribune's Close-Up section highlighting information gleaned from public databases. The purpose is not to provide analysis of the data, but to provide raw numbers so the public can analyze the data themselves for their own purposes.
