I was dismayed that The Tribune's list of "Utah-related sights in D.C." included Sen. Mike Lee's Wednesday "Jell-O with the Senator," but not the Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Building ("See Utah in D. C," Tribune, Jan. 14).
Any visiting Utahn would puff up with pride at this magnificent marble structure, knowing the name prominently displayed belongs to a homegrown Utahn. During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed Eccles as the first chairman of the reorganized Federal Reserve Board to help our nation prevent further economic disasters.
A recent Tribune article credited Eccles for Social Security, unemployment insurance and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
