Weber County officials suspect a medical condition likely caused the death of a man whose vehicle crashed on U.S. 89 near Uintah on Tuesday afternoon.
The 80-year-old driver was the only one in the car at about 3:50 p.m. when it veered off the southbound lane, hit a barrier and crossed into the opposite lane, according to Sgt. Brion Flinders of the Weber County Sheriff's Office.
A pending autopsy will determine the exact cause, but medical responders reported that the single vehicle crash was not severe enough to cause life-threatening injuries to the driver, Flinders said.
A nurse who was driving by stopped and performed CPR on the man until an ambulance arrived. The man was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden where he was later pronounced dead.
Officials did not release the man's name Tuesday night.
