Logan • Cache County prosecutors plan to hold three trials for a man accused of driving under the influence three times in three days.
The Herald Journal reports that prosecutors are using the unusual strategy in a bid to obtain a felony conviction against 41-year-old Daniel Kropf.
Utah law makes a driver's third DUI a felony — but only after the driver's been convicted twice before.
County Attorney James Swink informed a judge Monday he intends to seek separate DUI convictions one-by-one.
Authorities first booked Kropf into jail July 8. He bailed out the next day and was picked up again. Police say he was behind the wheel of a black Escalade when he was arrested for DUI a third time July 10.
