State colleges: Utah skiers place third in Denver Invitational

University of Utah skier Einar Ulsund placed second in the men's 15-kilometer classical cross-country race at the Denver Invitational in Minturn, Colo., on Sunday, helping the Utes finish third in the team standings.

Colorado's Rune Oedegaard won in 39 minutes, 33.8 seconds, edging Ulsund by 2 seconds.

Utah's Miles Havlick (40:33.2) and Niklas Persson (40:44.3) finished fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Utah's Rose Kemp finished fourth in the women's 10K race in 32:06.6.

Colorado won the team title with 852 points, followed by Denver (833) and Utah (796). Alpine events were held Jan. 12-13, and Nordic events were held this weekend.
