Georgia Dabritz had quite a weekend, and now, the sophomore is being recognized for it.
Dabritz, a sophomore University of Utah gymnast, was named the Gymnast of the Week, the Pac-12 Conference office announced Tuesday. Utah's Tory Wilson was also voted Specialist of the Week Tuesday's release announced. The Utes had a 196.95 team score in their win over then-No. 23 Oregon State (195.95), then-No. 22 West Virginia (192.125) and then-No. 20 Southern Utah (191.050).
Dabritz, a native of Newburyport, Mass., won the all-around and three event titles this weekend against the Beavers, Mountaineers and Thunderbirds. She had two career highs in the all-around (39.525) and bars (9.90), where she placed first. Dabritz also scored a 9.90 on beam for a first-place finish, and also tied for first on floor with a score of 9.875. She earned a 9.85 on the vault, which was good enough for fourth place.
Wilson, a sophomore All-American, earned her second-straight vault title with a 9.95, which tied a career-high score. In just her second career beam routine, she earned a 9.875 to tie for a second-place finish.
Tuesday's announcement stated that this is Dabritz's first Gymnast of the Week honor, Utah's second all-time and first this season. It is also Wilson's first Specialist of the Week honor and Utah's first all-time.
Utah and Arizona face off this week when the Utes travel to Tuscon, Ariz., on Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m.
