Cough! Beijing and SLC

The story "Smog thickens in Beijing" (Tribune, Jan. 28) reported that the World Health Organization recommends 24-hour exposure of concentration of PM2.5 fine air particulates to be no higher than 25 micrograms per cubic meter. The 24-hour average in Tiananmen Square was a "very unhealthy" 299!

If The Trib can get that kind of information from across the globe, why can't it publish, every day, downtown Salt Lake City's PM2.5 levels at Temple Square, available on www.airnow.gov?

If they are to protect themselves during our inversions, Salt Lake's citizens need to be armed with the facts.
