Bill would help Utah veterans get college credit

Veterans would have an easier time getting college credit for military training under a bill advanced Wednesday by the Utah House Education Committee.
Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, the co-chairman of a legislative task force studying how to improve veteran reintegration, proposed HB254. The committee recommended it unanimously.
Dave Buhler, Utah Commission of Higher Education, called the bill "a really good step" that will require veterans to meet with a counselor to determine whether it's in his or her best interest to get the credit.
"It will not be like general credit, but to really focus it on replacing certain classes."
