Salt Lake City police arrested a 27-year-old man after he allegedly attacked his estranged girlfriend at her place of work.

Police say the incident occurred at the Palace Meat Company, 715 E. 500 South, about 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect first allegedly struck the woman several times in the face outside the business before she managed to break loose, enter the building and lock him out. However, the man then broke out a window as officers arrived.

The suspect attempted to flee but officers caught him, and after a struggle he was subdued, handcuffed and arrested.

The man was being held at Salt Lake County jail Thursday in lieu of $4,015 bail. He was booked on suspicion of numerous offenses, ranging from third-degree felony aggravated assault to misdemeanor violation of a protective order, fleeing police, obstruction of justice and criminal mischief.
