Smog's impact on health is focus of proposed appropriation

SB188 • Trustworthy, unbiased information about the health impacts of air pollution would be one subject included on a new Web page created and hosted by the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, under SB118 by Sen. Karen Mayne, D-West Valley City. The bill, which passed the Senate Health and Human Services Committee Thursday, 4-1, calls for a $50,000 appropriation, which lawmakers have yet to consider. Mayne said the online resource would pay for itself, generating "truth, jobs and economic development." Some current summaries of this information "tend to have too much oomph," one supporter said.
