A woman who suffered a head injury in a three-car accident in downtown Salt Lake City over the weekend has died.

The woman died Monday at a local hospital, the Salt Lake City Police Department said.

Her name was not released Monday evening.

Investigators believe the late-Sunday morning crashes were caused by a truck driver who may have had a seizure or passed out, police Detective Mike Hamideh said. The westbound truck rear-ended a car stopped at a red light near 400 West and North Temple before it careened into a second car.

The truck driver regained consciousness at the scene and was otherwise uninjured, but a man and the woman in the first car hit were hurt — the woman suffered head trauma, while the man sustained less-serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remained under investigation on Monday.
