Re "Fire-prevention bill pulled from Utah Senate due to gun-rights criticism" (Tribune, Feb. 2):
Our Utah gun culture is a three-headed monster: 1. I can carry my gun any place I want, and you can't stop me; it's my right. 2. I can buy any kind of gun and as much ammunition and as big a clip as I want; it's my right. 3. The feds can have my gun when they pry it from my cold, dead hand.
Now, some gun-rights legislators who helped create the monster are getting bombed by social media because they proposed to rein it in just a little to protect life and property from target shooting during tinder-dry conditions.
All I can say to Sen. Margaret Dayton, R-Orem, and Rep. Curt Oda, R-Clearfield National Rifle Association members and the entire pack of gun-rights extremists on Capitol Hill is: You reap what you sow.
