Utah State football adds three more commits over the weekend

Sunday was a great day to be a football fan - a Utah State football fan, that is.

That's because the Aggies are continuing to add to their class, addressing key areas of depth on Sunday with a handful of new commits.

On the defensive sid of the ball, Utah State got pledges from linebacker Keylon Hollis and defensive back/saftey Myron Turner, two talents who will add depth and athleticism to the Aggies' defense.

Hollis, who earned a defensive player of the year honor at Bakersfield CC in California, remembered Utah State taking an interest in him two years ago as a senior at Cypress Creek in Texas. His high school teammate, Chuckie Keeton, helped coax him the rist of the way.

"We've played together, so that was a good thing," said Hollis, who had 16.5 sacks last year. "I'm very excited to come to Utah State. I'm ready to work hard."

Turner was only a few weeks removed from having his future turned upside down when Washington State retracted an offer. But Turner, from DeSoto High in Texas, said he liked Utah State and found it easy to open himself up again after the Cougars had turned on him.

It seems like it's just a big family, everybody's comfortable out here," he said. "It seemed like a really good vibe out there, it wasn't hard for me to trust what the coaches were telling me."

The last commitment, reported by the Herald Journal, was running back Rashad Hall, who could have a shot at being a big contributor next year depending on how the running back battle goes. He rushed for more that 1,400 yards last season at Contra Costa College, teammates with fellow Aggie commit Ronald Butler.

The only player who visited over the weekend and didn't commit was Ofa Hautau, the lineman from Snow College.

So far, excluding LDS church missionaries who are taking off before their football careers, Utah State should have 18 recruits sign on Wednesday. But don't count out the Aggies from a few late moves.
