HB254 • The House advanced a bill Tuesday to make it easier for veterans to receive college credit for military training.
It voted 72-0 to pass HB254 to require state colleges to give credit for military service and training as recommended by a postsecondary accreditation agency or association designated by the State Board of Regents.
Its sponsor, Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, a co-chairman of a legislative task force studying how to improve veteran reintegration, said that will help veterans to get credit for that experience, instead of forcing "relearning things they already know."
