The Deseret News announced Tuesday it would cease publication of the print edition of its Spanish-language newspaper, OK Espanol, saying it had been losing money for three years.
Clark Gilbert, CEO of the Deseret News, declined to comment and referred to statements he made in a story in Tuesday's Deseret News.
The story said publication of the print edition will be halted the middle of next month but that a Web version will continue. The article noted that six employees would be laid off.
In May 2012, The Salt Lake Tribune ceased publication of its Spanish-language newspaper, Ahora Utah, because of the "challenging economic environment," according to Tribune Deputy Editor Tim Fitzpatrick.
