The Great Salt Lake Council wants to keep in place the Boy Scouts' ban on gay kids ("Salt Lake Scouts: Keep no-gay policy for now," Tribune, Feb. 5). Ninety-nine percent of the Great Salt Lake Council's troops are sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Being raised Mormon, I know that every LDS ward sponsors its own troop, and that 99.9 percent of those kids belong to that LDS ward.
To the Great Salt Lake Council, I say: Do not delude yourselves into thinking that by continuing the ban on gay kids that you will somehow be excluding some unwashed other's gay kids from participating in your troops. The only gay kids you will be discriminating against are your own gay kids.
