Clearfield, South Salt Lake home to most immigrants

Clearfield and South Salt Lake are home to more immigrants than any other communities in Salt Lake and Davis counties.

U.S. Census Data shows that, between 2006 and 2010, 10.3 percent of Clearfield's residents were born outside the United States.

The next highest percentage of foreign-born residents was North Salt Lake, with 9.4 percent, followed by Sunset, 6.4 percent; Clinton, 4.7 percent; and Layton, 4.6 percent.

Fruit Heights had the least amount of immigrants living in the community, at 2 percent.

In Salt Lake County, 23.7 percent of South Salt Lake's residents were born outside the United States. It was followed by West Valley City, 20.6 percent; Salt Lake City, 17.9 percent; Kearns, 17.2 percent; and Midvale, 15.2 percent.

Bluffdale, in southern Salt Lake County, had the lowest percentage of immigrants, at 1.5 percent.

Park City, which is included in the City editions of Close-Up, has 14.4 percent of its residents coming from a foreign country.

The data were compiled by UtahsRight.com for a weekly series in The Salt Lake Tribune's Close-Up section highlighting information gleaned from public databases. The purpose is not to provide analysis of the data, but to provide raw numbers so the public can analyze the data themselves for their own purposes.
