Clearfield, South Salt Lake home to most immigrants

Clearfield and South Salt Lake are home to more immigrants than any other communities in Salt Lake and Davis counties.

U.S. Census data show that, between 2006 and 2010, 10.3 percent of Clearfield's residents were born outside the United States.

The next highest percentage of foreign-born residents was North Salt Lake, with 9.4 percent, followed by Sunset, 6.4 percent; Clinton, 4.7 percent; and Layton, 4.6 percent. Fruit Heights had the smallest percentage of immigrants in the community, 2 percent.

In Salt Lake County, 23.7 percent of South Salt Lake's residents were born outside the United States. It was followed by West Valley City, 20.6 percent; Salt Lake City, 17.9 percent; Kearns, 17.2 percent; and Midvale, 15.2 percent. Bluffdale, in southern Salt Lake County, had the lowest percentage, 1.5 percent.

Park City, included in the City editions of Close-Up, has 14.4 percent of residents coming from a foreign country.
