We're only a week into the February sweeps, but a major battle is shaping up.
Not for first place. KUTV-Ch. 2 is far-and-away No. 1 with a 13.3 rating just two-tenths of a rating point away from equaling its three competitors combined.
But the battle for second place is interesting. KSL-Ch. 5 (5.3) holds a one-tenth of a rating point lead over KSTU-Ch. 13 (5.2). KSL, which led in the local news ratings for decades until it was supplanted by KUTV, has not been in third place in half a century or so.
KTVX-Ch. 4, which is under new management has has not yet begun to rebuild, trails with a 3.0 rating.
