SB31 • A House committee approved SB31, which provides a $1,000 refundable tax credit to families who adopt children ages 5 to 18 with special needs.

The credit would apply to adoptions that took place on or after Jan. 1, 2013, and may be claimed in the year the adoption became final. A fiscal note attached to the bill, which the Senate already passed, estimates it will cost the state's education fund $350,000 annually.
