MLS • A pair of Real Salt Lake newcomers scored early, but a familiar face helped spoil a chance at a preseason victory.

RSL forward Joao Plata, acquired in a trade from Toronto this offseason, scored in the opening minute of Wednesday's matchup with the New York Red Bulls in Tucson, Ariz. Two minutes later, midfielder Cole Grossman, acquired via the waiver draft, put RSL up 2-0.

But longtime RSL defender Jamison Olave, who along with Fabian Espindola was traded to New York in exchange for cash at the start of the offseason, made his old team pay. Olave got on the end of a corner kick and scored Red Bulls' first goal in the 31st minute.

Vikings sign Frazier through 2014

NFL • After leading the Vikings to a surprising playoff berth last season, Leslie Frazier has reached an agreement that will keep him in Minnesota at least through 2014.

The two sides agreed to the deal this week, two people with knowledge of the agreement told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

U.S. wins; Wambach reaches milestone

Women's soccer • Abby Wambach scored on a diving header in the 51st minute, and the U.S. women's soccer team beat Scotland 3-1 on Wednesday to give Wambach a victory in her 200th international match.

Wambach became the eighth American to play at least 200 games for the national team, and she served as captain for the game in honor of the milestone.

Megan Rapinoe and Christen Press also scored to help the Americans gave new coach Tom Sermanni his second victory in five days against his native Scotland.
