In a resignation letter addressed to Lone Peak principal Dr. Chip Koop, McGeary thanked Koop for the opportunity to lead the football program the Knights went 51-12 during his time as coach and said he and his staff helped close to 30 players further their football careers at the collegiate level.
In 2011, Lone Peak went 14-0 and won the Class 5A state championship, headlined by star quarterback Chase Hansen. The Knights made the playoffs every year during his five years at the helm.
"I appreciate the opportunity I have had to be here and have enjoyed every minute of it," McGeary wrote to Koop.
