Utah forecast: Getting better, with warmer ..

Clean air, too • 'Green' air quality grades statewide heading to weekend.

As Utah forecasts go, the Beatles put it best: "I've got to admit it's getting better, a little better all the time."

In northern Utah, the National Weather Service predicted gradually warming daytime temperatures under clearing, increasingly sunny skies heading toward the weekend. Look for highs around 40 degrees Friday, up a few degrees from Thursday's forecast high.

In southern Utah, Sgt. Pepper could declare, it is really getting better. Under horizons intermittently sunny and blue and partly cloudy, daytime temperatures were to soar into the upper-60s in Friday, up 5-8 degrees from Thursday.

Want to head outside to enjoy the weather? Breathe deep. The Utah Division of Air Quality was flying its "Green," or healthy air quality banners statewide right into the weekend.

Nonetheless, backcountry skiers needed to remain wary. The Utah Avalanche Center rated the risk for dangerous mountain snowslides at "considerable" for the Uintas and "moderate" for the remainder of the state's slopes.

Salt Lake City looked for a high temperature Friday of 41 degrees, up from Thursday's forecast for 38; Ogden expected 39 and 35 degrees, respectively; Provo 45 and 41; Logan 33 and 29; Wendover 40 and 37; Duchesne 38 and 32; Cedar City 51 and 44; St. George 69 and 61; and Moab 47 and 42 degrees.
