Two natural gas leaks prompted the overnight evacuation of nearly 130 students at two University of Utah dorms. Students were allowed to return Friday morning.

A maintenance man smelled the first gas leak late Thursday morning. The evacuations came in the afternoon after Questar crews confirmed the leak and began repairs on that leak and a second one discovered nearby in piping.

Following testing and safety checks, the residents of Residence Hall Buildings 828 and 829 returned to their rooms at 8:30 a.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported.

In all, 129 students were shuffled to alternative campus accommodations overnight, school officials said.
